The tradeoff: some boat tours cancel, the Similans close, and the Andaman gets rough. Hotel rates drop significantly and the island is noticeably quieter. If beaches are your priority, stick to dry season. If you're exploring Phuket Town, cooking, and doing inland activities, rainy season is perfectly fine.
